Replacement electrode for ORP measurement, used with the MT680 Free and Total SO2 Titrator.
Electrodes typically require replacement every 18-24 months, if properly cared for during their service life.
To Condition a New Electrode: - Remove the electrode from its packaging and rinse the salt deposits off of the exterior of the electrode near the refilling cap. Do not be alarmed by these deposits, they are normal and designed to protect the electrode while it sits on the shelf waiting to go into service.
- Loosen the refilling cap enough that you can see the groove cut into the threads which allows air exchange in and out of the electrode's main chamber. Alternatively you can remove the cap completely, as long as you can keep track of it.
- Soak the electrode in water (tap will suffice, although distilled or deionized water would be better) for 30-60 minutes. Do not soak the electrode in pH storage solution or in a pH buffer, as this will not completely remove the last layer of salt deposit from the electrode.
- You're now ready to calibrate and use the electrode. If you removed the refilling cap completely, remember to replace it before you store the machine!
